Dermaplaning Eyebrows: What Happens, What to Expect and Safe Alternatives

Dermaplaning is a gentle way to smooth skin and remove peach fuzz, but it is not designed for shaping eyebrows. Here is what dermaplaning does, and what works better for your brows.

Dermaplaning is for the face, not for shaping eyebrows

Dermaplaning is a gentle exfoliating facial that removes dead skin cells and fine vellus hair (peach fuzz) to instantly smooth texture, enhance product absorption, and reveal a brighter, more refined complexion. A sterile surgical blade is used at a light angle across the skin.

It does not shape eyebrows. The blade removes the soft, light hair on the face, but your brow hairs are coarser and seated in defined follicles. Dermaplaning near the brows can accidentally remove stray hairs you wanted to keep, or create uneven edges. If you want clean, defined brows, there are better and safer ways.

What dermaplaning does (and what it does not)

Dermaplaning removes the top layer of dead skin cells and the fine downy hair across the forehead, cheeks, chin and upper lip. The result is smoother texture, brighter tone, and better makeup application. Skin care products may also absorb more easily after the treatment.

The hair does not grow back thicker or darker. That is a common myth. Shaving or dermaplaning does not change the follicle, so the hair returns with the same texture and color it had before.

Dermaplaning does not work like waxing or tweezing. It does not pull hair from the root. It is not a brow shaping tool. For eyebrows, you need precision: mapping, measuring, and removing only the hairs outside your ideal shape.

Safe and effective options for eyebrows

If you want clean, shaped brows, here are the methods estheticians use:

  • Tweezing: precise, hair by hair removal. Best for maintaining a shape or cleaning up a few strays.
  • Waxing: removes multiple hairs at once from the root. Fast and effective for shaping.
  • Threading: an ancient technique using twisted thread to lift unwanted hair. Very precise, especially for fine detail work.
  • Brow lamination: a chemical treatment that repositions brow hairs to create a fuller, brushed-up look. Lasts about 6 to 8 weeks. Does not remove hair, but changes how it sits.
  • Tinting: semi-permanent color applied to the brow hairs and skin underneath, giving the appearance of fuller, more defined brows. Fades over a few weeks.

At KRIDO Wellness, Amber provides brow consultations and treatments. You start with a consultation where she assesses your natural brow shape, your face shape, and what you want. Then she recommends the brow treatment that suits you. The consultation is bundled with your first treatment.

What a dermaplaning facial at KRIDO looks like

Every KRIDO facial is built on Circadia professional skincare and finished with red light therapy and lymphatic drainage massage. The Dermaplaning Facial is $150.

Your esthetician cleanses your skin, then uses a sterile blade at a gentle angle to remove dead cells and peach fuzz across your face. The blade stays away from the brow area to protect the shape you already have. After dermaplaning, your esthetician uses Circadia products chosen for your skin. Then you finish with red light therapy, which research suggests may support collagen, and lymphatic drainage, which can temporarily reduce puffiness.

The treatment is gentle and relaxing. There is no downtime. Many clients notice brighter, smoother skin right away, and makeup goes on more evenly.

For optimal skin health, a facial is recommended every 4 to 6 weeks, which aligns with the skin’s natural renewal cycle. Dermaplaning may be added based on your skin type and goals.

I had the absolute best experience at Krido Wellness!! I went in for a dermaplane and from the moment I walked in, I was welcomed with open arms. I sat down with the owner, Kristina and she took the time to discuss my current skincare routine, what I’m struggling with and my goals. You could tell she really has such a passion for what she does and after learning more about her story, it was clear that her mission is to help people look and feel their best. The spa itself is very clean, professional, and has a calming atmosphere so you can truly relax. My aesthetician Amber was incredible!! She is so knowledgable and friendly and was so thorough with my treatment. She wasn’t pushing products on me, she just really wanted me to have the best possible experience. I literally couldn’t believe my skin afterward - had to do a double take in the mirror lol it was GLOWING, rejuvenated and felt amazing.

Who should avoid dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is safe for most people. It is not recommended if you have active acne, open wounds, or active skin infections in the treatment area. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or managing a medical condition, the team reviews your health history at the consultation.

The treatment is gentle and does not use chemicals or heat. Results are immediate and there is no recovery time.

Frequently asked questions

Does dermaplaning remove eyebrow hair?

Dermaplaning can accidentally remove brow hairs if the blade is used too close to the brow line. Estheticians keep the blade away from the brows to protect your shape. For brow shaping, tweezing, waxing or threading are safer and more precise.

Will my peach fuzz grow back thicker after dermaplaning?

No. Dermaplaning does not change the hair follicle. The fine vellus hair on your face will grow back with the same texture and color it had before. This is well established in dermatology.

How long do dermaplaning results last?

The smooth texture and bright tone are immediate and last about 3 to 4 weeks as your skin renews. For ongoing results, many clients schedule a facial every 4 to 6 weeks, which aligns with the skin’s natural cycle.

Can I get dermaplaning and a brow treatment on the same day?

Ask the team when you book. Doing both in one visit depends on your skin and the schedule. She will assess at your consultation and recommend the right order and timing.

What is the best way to shape eyebrows?

Tweezing, waxing and threading are the most precise methods for shaping brows. At KRIDO, Amber maps your ideal brow shape based on your face and then uses the right technique to create clean, defined brows that suit you.
