Powder Brows Healing Process: Day by Day Stages
Powder brows look dark and bold for the first week, flake lightly, can look patchy in weeks two and three, and settle by about four to six weeks.
Powder Brows Healing: The Short Answer
Powder brows look darker and sharper than expected for the first week, then flake lightly. Around weeks two and three they often look pale or patchy as new skin forms over the pigment. The color then comes back softer and settles by about four to six weeks, which is when the touch up is booked.
Powder brows (also called ombré brows) use tiny dots of pigment to create a soft, shaded look, a bit like brow powder. Because the effect is shading rather than hair strokes, the dark first week can feel dramatic. It softens a lot.
Days 1 to 3: Dark and Defined
Fresh brows are at their boldest right after the session. Expect:
- Color that looks darker and more defined than your final result.
- Mild redness or swelling around the brows for a day or two.
- Some tightness as the surface starts to dry.
A little clear fluid can come up in the first hours. Your artist will show you how to blot it gently with clean tissue so it does not dry into thick crusts.

Days 4 to 10: Itching and Flaking
From about day four the brows start to feel dry and itchy, and fine flakes lift away. Powder brows usually flake lightly, more like dry skin than heavy scabs. Some areas flake before others, so the brows can look uneven for a few days.
Do not scratch or pick. Pulling flakes off early can take pigment with them and leave gaps. Gently tapping around the brow, not on it, can help with itching.
Days 10 to 21: The Pale Stage
Once the flakes are gone, many people panic because the brows look much lighter, grey or patchy. This happens because the new skin on top is still cloudy and hides the color underneath. It is a normal part of healing and not a sign that the pigment has failed.
Keep following aftercare, keep the brows out of strong sun and wait. The color usually starts to return in week three.
Weeks 4 to 6: Settled Color
By four to six weeks the skin has settled and you can judge the real result: softer and more natural than day one, with the shading evened out. Some spots may have held less color. That is normal with any cosmetic tattoo, and it is what the touch up is for.

The Touch Up at 5 to 6 Weeks
At KRIDO, most clients have one main session and a touch up five to six weeks later. The touch up fills lighter areas and fine tunes shape and depth. In some cases more than one touch up is planned, and the team confirms your plan at the consultation.
Powder / Ombré brows at KRIDO are $497, Combo brows $597 and Nano Brows $697, with the final quote and touch up plan confirmed at the consultation. Compare looks in powder brows before and after, read about the technique in powder brows, see permanent makeup at KRIDO or book a consultation.
Aftercare That Helps Healing
Most artists recommend, for about ten days: keeping the brows clean and only lightly moisturized as instructed, no makeup or skincare actives on the brows, no swimming, saunas or heavy sweating, and no direct sun. Contact your artist or a medical provider if you notice spreading redness, pus, worsening swelling or a fever.
Frequently asked questions
Why do my powder brows look patchy after two weeks?
New skin forms over the pigment and looks cloudy at first, which makes the brows seem pale or uneven. The color usually returns from week three and settles by about six weeks.
Do powder brows scab?
They usually flake lightly rather than forming thick scabs, especially if you blot and clean them as your artist shows you.
When is the touch up for powder brows?
At KRIDO the touch up is usually five to six weeks after the first session, once the brows have fully settled.
