Cellulite on Thighs: What Works and What KRIDO Does
Cellulite on the thighs is extremely common in women and comes from the structure of fat and connective tissue under the skin. No treatment cures it, but options that improve skin tightness can help.
Cellulite on Thighs: What Causes It and What You Can Do
Cellulite on the thighs is extremely common. About 80 to 90 percent of women develop it after puberty. It comes from the structure of fat and connective tissue bands under the skin, along with hormones, genetics and skin thickness. It is not a medical problem and it does not mean you are unhealthy or overweight.
No treatment cures cellulite. Results from any approach are temporary to moderate and require maintenance. You have options, and some help more than others.
What Causes Cellulite on the Thighs
Cellulite forms when fat pushes up against the skin while fibrous bands (septae) pull down. This creates the dimpled, uneven texture most visible on the thighs, hips and buttocks. Hormones, genetics and the way your skin and fat are structured all play a role. Thinner skin shows it more easily.
Research mostly shows that exercise cannot burn fat from one chosen spot, though it can strengthen the muscle underneath and improve overall tone. Creams have weak evidence. Weight loss may reduce the look of cellulite for some people, but it does not change the underlying structure.
Treatment Options for Cellulite on the Thighs
Options range from at-home care to medical procedures. Here is a fair look at what is available:
- Creams and topical treatments: Weak evidence. Results are temporary if they appear at all.
- Dry brushing and massage: May temporarily improve circulation and puffiness. No lasting effect on cellulite structure.
- Laser and radiofrequency devices: Some medical devices combine energy with suction or massage and show moderate improvement in clinical studies. Results are temporary and require repeat sessions.
- Subcision (Cellfina): A minor surgical procedure that cuts the fibrous bands. Results can last a year or more but require a medical provider.
- Topical retinoids: May thicken skin over time, which can make cellulite less visible. Prescription strength works better than over-the-counter.
- Cold-based skin tightening: Non-invasive treatments that use controlled cooling. Evidence is limited, though many clients notice firmer-looking skin. Results vary and need a course of sessions.
For medical procedures, talk to a dermatologist or plastic surgeon.
How KRIDO Approaches Cellulite on the Thighs
At KRIDO Wellness in downtown St. Petersburg, we offer Cryo Body Sculpting for the thighs. This treatment is designed to help tighten skin and reduce the appearance of cellulite in areas like the thighs, buttocks and abdomen. It does not remove cellulite permanently, but many clients notice smoother, firmer-looking skin over a course of sessions.
The treatment uses controlled cooling applied to the skin, followed by red light therapy and manual lymphatic drainage massage. Research suggests red light may support collagen, and lymphatic drainage can temporarily reduce puffiness and improve circulation. Many clients notice firmer skin and a smoother contour over a course of sessions.
A thigh session takes about an hour. You can return to your normal day immediately. Most clients see their best results over 5 to 10 sessions.
What a Visit Looks Like
You start with a consultation and your first treatment. We take measurements so progress is tracked in inches, not guesswork. Your esthetician assesses the area, explains what to expect, and builds your plan.
During the session, you feel alternating warmth and cooling. Most clients find it comfortable and relaxing. After the cryo step, you receive red light therapy and lymphatic drainage to complete the protocol. No downtime.
We recommend avoiding sugars and highly processed fats for two hours before and after your session. Light movement like walking after your appointment helps support the lymphatic system. Results depend on following the recommended schedule and aftercare.
How Many Sessions
Many clients notice a visible change after the first session, and results build with each treatment. We typically recommend at least 3 sessions for subtle refinement, 5 for visible change, and 10 for a complete course. Your plan will be personalized during your consultation based on your goals and the areas you want to treat.
Packages bring the per-session price down. A single session is $299. A 5-pack is $1,300 ($260 per session). A 10-pack is $2,300 ($230 per session). Packages are valid for 12 months.

Weight loss may reduce its appearance for some people but does not change the underlying structure.
