Microdermabrasion or HydraFacial: Which Should You Choose?

Both microdermabrasion and HydraFacial exfoliate and refresh the skin, but they work in different ways and suit different goals.

Microdermabrasion or HydraFacial: Which Should You Choose?

Both microdermabrasion and HydraFacial exfoliate and refresh the skin. Microdermabrasion uses fine crystals or a diamond tip to physically buff away dead cells. HydraFacial combines exfoliation with suction, serum infusion and hydration in one device. Both improve texture and brightness temporarily. Neither removes deep scars or wrinkles, and results are mild and short term. The best choice depends on your skin goals, sensitivity and budget.

Both treatments are non-invasive and require no downtime. You can return to your day right after.

Who Each Option Suits

Microdermabrasion suits people who want straightforward exfoliation and a brighter complexion. It works on most skin types, though it can be too abrasive for very sensitive or inflamed skin. It is a good choice if you have dull texture, mild sun damage or uneven tone and prefer a simple, time-tested method.

HydraFacial suits people who want exfoliation, extraction and hydration in one session. It is gentler on sensitive skin and is often chosen by clients with combination skin, mild congestion or fine lines who want a more layered treatment. The device allows customization with different serums.

Both are safe for most people. If you have active breakouts, open wounds, rosacea flares or are on certain medications (such as isotretinoin), talk to your provider first.

What to Expect at KRIDO Wellness

At KRIDO Wellness in downtown St. Petersburg, we offer a Microdermabrasion Facial designed as a complete skin health experience, not a standard facial. The treatment gently exfoliates to reveal brighter, more radiant skin and improve overall texture and tone.

Every KRIDO facial is built on Circadia professional skincare and finished with red light therapy and lymphatic drainage massage. Research suggests red light may support collagen, and lymphatic drainage can temporarily reduce puffiness.

Your visit starts with a skin consultation. We read your skin, discuss your goals and recommend the facial that fits. Every visit starts with a consultation where we look at your goals and build your plan. You pay for the facial.

The Microdermabrasion Facial at KRIDO is $150. For optimal skin health, we generally recommend a facial every 4 to 6 weeks, which aligns with the skin’s natural renewal cycle.

We do not currently offer HydraFacial. If HydraFacial is what you are looking for, we are happy to help you understand how our Circadia facials compare and which option may suit your skin goals.

I had the absolute best experience at Krido Wellness!! I went in for a dermaplane and from the moment I walked in, I was welcomed with open arms. I sat down with the owner, Kristina and she took the time to discuss my current skincare routine, what I’m struggling with and my goals. You could tell she really has such a passion for what she does and after learning more about her story, it was clear that her mission is to help people look and feel their best. The spa itself is very clean, professional, and has a calming atmosphere so you can truly relax. My aesthetician Amber was incredible!! She is so knowledgable and friendly and was so thorough with my treatment. She wasn’t pushing products on me, she just really wanted me to have the best possible experience. I literally couldn’t believe my skin afterward - had to do a double take in the mirror lol it was GLOWING, rejuvenated and felt amazing.

Frequently asked questions

Is microdermabrasion better than HydraFacial?

Neither is better. Microdermabrasion is simpler and more mechanical. HydraFacial is gentler and includes hydration and serum infusion in one session. The best choice depends on your skin type, goals and what you want from the experience.

Does KRIDO Wellness offer HydraFacial?

No. We offer microdermabrasion as part of our Circadia facial menu, along with red light therapy and lymphatic drainage. At your consultation we can help you decide if microdermabrasion or another facial suits your goals.

How often should I get microdermabrasion?

For optimal skin health, we generally recommend a facial every 4 to 6 weeks, which aligns with the skin’s natural renewal cycle. Your esthetician will personalize your schedule based on your skin goals.

Is there downtime after microdermabrasion?

No. You may have mild redness for a few hours. Most clients return to their day right after. Avoid direct sun and wear sunscreen for a few days.

Can microdermabrasion remove acne scars?

Microdermabrasion may improve the appearance of mild texture and tone over time, but it does not remove deep acne scars. For scarring, microneedling or a consultation with a dermatologist is a better option.
