Exercises for Cellulite: What Works and What Doesn’t
Exercise strengthens muscle and improves overall body composition, but research mostly shows it can’t burn fat from one chosen spot. Cellulite comes from how fat and connective tissue sit under the skin, and no treatment cures it permanently.
Can Exercise Get Rid of Cellulite?
Exercise strengthens muscle and improves overall body composition, but research mostly shows it can’t burn fat from one chosen spot. Cellulite comes from how fat and connective tissue sit under the skin, not from lack of muscle tone alone. It appears in 80 to 90 percent of women after puberty, across all body types.
Exercise helps by building the muscle underneath, which can make the area look firmer. It can also reduce overall body fat, which may make cellulite less noticeable. But you can’t choose where your body loses fat, and the dimpled appearance often stays even when you get leaner.
Why Cellulite Forms
Cellulite is not a medical problem. It comes from the structure of fat and connective tissue bands under the skin, plus hormones, genetics and how thick your skin is. The bands pull down while fat pushes up, creating the dimpled look. This is normal anatomy, not something broken.
No exercise, cream or treatment cures cellulite permanently. Results from any approach are temporary to moderate and need maintenance.

What Exercise Can and Can’t Do
Exercise strengthens and tones the muscle underneath the skin. Stronger glutes, hamstrings and quads can make the area feel firmer and look smoother. Cardio and strength training lower overall body fat, which may reduce the appearance of cellulite.
But spot reduction does not work reliably. A few small studies suggest a small local effect, but most research finds fat loss happens across the whole body, not just in the area you work.
Other Options for Cellulite
Beyond exercise, people try:
- Creams and lotions. Evidence is weak. Most do not change the structure under the skin.
- Medical treatments like laser, radiofrequency or subcision. These can improve the look temporarily, but results fade and sessions need to be repeated. Talk to a medical provider about these.
- Massage and lymphatic drainage. These can reduce puffiness temporarily and many people find them relaxing, but they do not remove fat or change connective tissue long term.
- Non-invasive body treatments. Cold-based therapies and skin tightening treatments aim to improve skin firmness and the look of cellulite, though results vary and evidence for some devices is limited.
How KRIDO Approaches Cellulite
Cryo Body Sculpting at KRIDO uses controlled cooling, red light therapy and lymphatic drainage to help reduce stubborn fat and tighten skin. Each session targets a specific area like the thighs, glutes or abdomen.
The treatment does not cure cellulite, but many clients notice firmer, smoother skin after a series of sessions. Progress is tracked with measurements, so you see changes in inches, not just impressions.
Each session is about an hour. You start with measurements. The team applies controlled cooling to the area, then red light therapy, then manual lymphatic drainage massage. There is no downtime.
Most clients see their best results over 5 to 10 sessions. On average, clients lose 0.5 to 1 inch in the first session, measured in the studio. Results vary.
After debating for a few years to book a treatment like abdominal cryotherapy, I am so unbelievably happy that I chose KRIDO and Amber! She is so informational, trustworthy and talented. My results are everything I hoped for & I will absolutely be back for more.
