How Long Does Lip Blush Last?
Lip blush typically lasts 1 to 3 years depending on your skin type, lifestyle and aftercare. Results fade gradually and touch-ups keep the color fresh.
How Long Lip Blush Lasts
Lip blush typically lasts 1 to 3 years depending on your skin type, lifestyle and aftercare. The pigment is implanted in the upper layer of skin, and it fades gradually over time. Most clients notice the color softening first, then lightening, until a touch-up is needed to bring back the fresh, defined look.
Lip blush is a form of permanent makeup, also called cosmetic tattooing. It gives your lips a natural, even tint that looks like a soft stain or your lips after wearing a tinted balm. The result is semi-permanent, not permanent like a body tattoo.
What Affects How Long It Lasts
Several factors influence how quickly lip blush fades.
Skin type. Oily skin tends to break down pigment faster than dry or normal skin. If your skin produces more oil, you may need touch-ups closer to the 1-year mark.
Sun exposure. UV light fades pigment. Lips that see a lot of sun, whether from outdoor work, sports or daily commutes without lip balm with SPF, will lighten faster.
Exfoliating products. Chemical exfoliants, retinoids and harsh scrubs on or near the lips can speed up fading. Avoid them on the treated area if you want your color to last.
Lifestyle. Smoking, frequent swimming in chlorinated water and certain medications can all affect pigment retention.
Aftercare. How you care for your lips in the first 7 to 14 days while they heal has a big impact. Picking at the skin, getting the area wet or sweating heavily during healing can cause uneven fading or patchy color.
Your body’s metabolism. Some people’s skin simply holds pigment longer than others. There is no way to predict this ahead of time, which is why the range is 1 to 3 years.

The Healing Process and Color Changes
Right after your session, your lips will look darker and more intense than the final result. This is completely normal. As your skin heals over 7 to 14 days, the color softens and settles into its true shade.
During healing, avoid picking, sweating heavily or getting the area wet. Follow the aftercare instructions Amber gives you. Proper healing helps the pigment hold evenly and last as long as possible.
Most clients need one main session and one touch-up 5 to 6 weeks later. The touch-up perfects the shape, fills in any areas where pigment did not fully retain, and makes sure you are completely happy with the result. In some cases a neutralization is needed first, so one or more extra touch-up sessions may be required. Amber confirms your session plan and quote at the consultation.
Maintaining Your Lip Blush
Annual refreshers are recommended to maintain vibrancy over time. Even if your color has not faded completely, a refresh keeps the tone rich and the edges crisp.
Between touch-ups, protect your lips with a lip balm that has SPF when you are outdoors. Avoid exfoliating products directly on the lips. Keep your lips moisturized so they do not get dry or chapped.
How KRIDO Approaches Lip Blush
At KRIDO Wellness in downtown St. Petersburg, Amber Polacek handles all permanent makeup. You always start with a consultation. Amber assesses your natural lip shape, tone and skin, maps your ideal lip line and chooses the technique and shade with you.
There are three options: Lip Blush ($497), Ombré Lips ($497) or Full Lipstick Look ($597). The final quote, including your touch-up plan, is confirmed at the consultation. Once you book, the team calls you to confirm whether you want just the consultation or a treatment too.
A topical numbing cream is applied before the procedure to keep you comfortable. Most clients describe the sensation as light pressure or a mild scratching feeling. The treatment duration and exact session plan depend on the technique and your skin, and Amber walks you through everything at the consultation.
Clients must be 18 years or older. If you are prone to cold sores, talk to your doctor before booking, since lip procedures can trigger a flare-up.
I had a consultation at Krido Wellness and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. Kristina, the owner, sat down with me beforehand to really talk through what I was looking for. She was so kind, thoughtful, and clearly knows her craft. I felt completely comfortable and confident walking out of there. I’m already booked to come back at the end of the month for permanent makeup and couldn’t be more excited. Highly recommend if you’re looking for someone who genuinely listens and cares about getting it right.

5/5 Stars. KRIDO Wellness is awesome. I’d recommend them for facials, fat reduction/skin tightening for your body or face, and even permanent make up. Kristina, the owner, is absolutely incredible and truly cares so much about KRIDO, her team, and her clients. Both women and men would be happy they checked out KRIDO Wellness in Downtown St Pete.

Preparing for Your Appointment
Avoid alcohol and excessive sun exposure for at least 48 hours before your appointment, and skip optional blood thinners like aspirin or fish oil. If a doctor prescribed a blood thinner, do not stop it; tell the team at your consultation. Come with a clean face. If possible, bring a reference photo of your desired look. Amber will walk you through everything during your consultation.
Permanent makeup appointments require a $100 non-refundable deposit applied to your treatment. The deposit can be moved once with 48 hours notice. Late changes within 48 hours or no shows forfeit the deposit.
What Happens After Your Lip Blush Fades
Once your lip blush has faded, you can choose to refresh it or let it fade completely. Pigment usually softens and lightens over time. For some people it can shift in tone or leave a faint trace, so ask Amber what to expect.
If you want to keep the look, schedule a touch-up before it fades completely. If you decide you no longer want it, you can let it fade. How fully it fades varies from person to person.
Results are individual and depend on your skin type, lifestyle and aftercare. Photos on the KRIDO site are of real clients and are not retouched.
