How to Lose Postpartum Belly: Realistic Options for New Moms
After pregnancy, stubborn belly fat and loose skin are common. Here are realistic options, from movement and nutrition to non-invasive treatments that help when your body is ready.
How to Lose Postpartum Belly Fat and Tighten Loose Skin
The postpartum belly is a common concern for new moms. After pregnancy, the abdomen often holds stubborn fat and loose skin that do not respond quickly to diet or exercise. Your body changed to carry and deliver a baby. It takes time to recover, and some changes are simply structural.
Here is what helps, what does not, and when your body is ready for targeted support.
Why the Postpartum Belly Happens
During pregnancy, the abdominal muscles stretch and often separate (diastasis recti). The skin expands. Fat stores increase, especially around the midsection, to support your baby. After delivery, the uterus shrinks over about six weeks, but the stretched muscles, skin and fat take longer to recover.
Hormones, genetics, how much weight you gained, and whether you are breastfeeding all affect how your body heals. For some women, the belly flattens within months. For others, stubborn fat and loose skin stay.

What Actually Works
Research mostly shows you cannot spot-reduce fat from one area by exercise alone. Fat loss happens across the whole body, not just the place you are working. That said, movement and nutrition give you the foundation.
Movement and core work. Walking, gentle core exercises (once cleared by your doctor), and eventually strength training help rebuild muscle and support your posture. Muscle does not burn belly fat directly, but it improves how your midsection looks and functions.
Nutrition. A balanced diet supports fat loss over time. Extreme restriction, especially while breastfeeding, is not safe or sustainable. Small, steady changes work better than crash diets.
Time and patience. Your body took nine months to grow a baby. For many women it takes nine to twelve months or longer to feel like their shape has settled.
If you are breastfeeding, your body may hold onto some fat stores. That is normal.
Options When Diet and Movement Are Not Enough
Once you are past the early postpartum months and cleared by your doctor, you have options for stubborn fat and loose skin that do not respond to lifestyle changes.
Surgery (abdominoplasty or tummy tuck). Removes excess skin and fat, and repairs separated abdominal muscles. It is the most dramatic option, with visible scarring, a recovery period of weeks, and significant cost. Talk to a board-certified plastic surgeon.
Non-invasive body sculpting. Uses controlled cooling, radiofrequency, or ultrasound to reduce fat and tighten skin without surgery. No downtime, no incisions. Results build over several sessions. Not a replacement for surgery if you have a large amount of loose skin, but it may help with moderate concerns.
Cryo Body Sculpting, which KRIDO offers, is designed to reduce stubborn fat in areas like the abdomen using alternating warmth and cold, followed by red light therapy and lymphatic drainage. On average, clients notice 0.5 to 1 inch lost in the first session. Most see their best results over 5 to 10 sessions. Results vary.
When to consider it. Wait until you are done having children, no longer breastfeeding (or cleared by your provider), and at a stable weight. Body sculpting refines and shapes. It does not replace fat loss from nutrition and movement.
What KRIDO Offers for Postpartum Body Concerns
KRIDO Wellness in downtown St. Petersburg offers Cryo Body Sculpting for stubborn belly fat and skin tightening. Each session is about an hour. We start with measurements, so progress is tracked in inches, not guesses.
The treatment combines cryo (controlled cooling), red light therapy (research suggests it may support skin quality), and manual lymphatic drainage (which can temporarily reduce puffiness). You can return to your day immediately. No downtime.
This is body sculpting, not weight loss. It is designed for women who are already active and eating well, but have areas that will not budge.
Each of our estheticians has 30 years of esthetics experience. Your consultation is with a specialist who performs the treatment.

What to Expect at Your Consultation
We measure your abdomen (or other areas), talk about what you want to change, and build a plan. The consultation is bundled with your first session. You pay for the session, starting at $299.
Most clients start with at least 3 sessions. Most clients see their best results over 5 to 10 sessions. Packages lower the per-session price. A 10-pack is $2,300 ($230 per session, saving you $690).
We review your health history at the consultation. If you have a medical condition, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or take certain medications, the team will let you know if treatment is appropriate.
How Sessions Are Scheduled
Body sculpting works best when sessions are spaced properly and you follow the pre- and post-care guidance. The team will walk you through timing and what to avoid (like sugar around your session) to support results.
Packages are valid 12 months from purchase.

Frequently asked questions
How soon after giving birth can I do body sculpting?
Wait until you are cleared by your doctor, no longer breastfeeding (or have provider approval), and at a stable weight. We review your health history at the consultation.
Will cryo body sculpting tighten loose skin after pregnancy?
It is designed to reduce stubborn fat and firm skin, and many clients with moderate laxity notice firmer skin. Results vary. If you have a large amount of loose, sagging skin, surgery may be more effective. We assess your skin at the consultation and tell you honestly what to expect.
How many sessions does it take to see results on the postpartum belly?
Many clients notice a change after the first session (on average 0.5 to 1 inch). For deeper fat reduction and tighter skin, most see their best results over 5 to 10 sessions. Results vary by individual.
Is body sculpting safe if I am breastfeeding?
We review your health history at the consultation. In general, it is best to wait until you are done breastfeeding or have clearance from your provider. The team will guide you based on your situation.
Does it hurt?
You will feel alternating warmth and cold, then pressure. Most clients find it comfortable and relaxing. There is no pain, and you can return to your day immediately after the session.
