Dermaplaning Upper Lip: Smooth Peach Fuzz and Brighten Your Skin

Dermaplaning removes fine vellus hair and dead skin cells on the upper lip, leaving smooth, bright skin and better makeup application.

Does Dermaplaning Remove Upper Lip Hair?

Yes. Dermaplaning removes fine vellus hair (peach fuzz) and dead skin cells on the upper lip. The treatment uses a sterile surgical blade held at a precise angle to gently exfoliate the surface. Many clients notice smooth, bright skin and easier makeup application. The hair does not grow back thicker or darker.

Many women notice fine dark hair on the upper lip, or find their makeup looks uneven or cakey in that area. Dermaplaning takes care of both in one step.

Why Hair on the Upper Lip Shows

Fine vellus hair is normal. Everyone has it. On the upper lip it can look more visible because of pigment, lighting, or the way makeup sits on top of it. Hormones, genetics and age influence how much you see. It is not a medical problem, but many people prefer the look and feel of smooth skin.

Other ways to remove upper lip hair include shaving, waxing, threading, laser hair removal, or electrolysis. Shaving and dermaplaning are both safe for the face and do not change the hair follicle, so hair grows back the same. Waxing and threading pull the hair out at the root and can irritate sensitive skin. Laser and electrolysis target the follicle for longer-term reduction, but require multiple sessions with a trained provider.

Dermaplaning is gentle, non-invasive, and part of a facial that improves your whole complexion at the same time.

What Happens During a Dermaplaning Facial at KRIDO

You start with a skin consultation. Your esthetician looks at your skin type, texture and any concerns. Then she does the dermaplaning facial you choose.

The blade is held at about a 45-degree angle and moved in short, gentle strokes across cleansed skin. It removes the top layer of dead cells and all the fine vellus hair, including on the upper lip, cheeks and forehead.

After dermaplaning, your esthetician applies serums and a mask chosen for your skin. The exfoliation helps these products absorb better. Every facial at KRIDO also includes red light therapy and lymphatic drainage massage. Research suggests red light may support collagen and improve skin texture over time. Lymphatic drainage can temporarily reduce puffiness.

Many clients leave with smooth, glowing skin. Makeup glides on evenly. There is no downtime.

How Often to Dermaplane

We generally recommend a facial every four to six weeks, which aligns with the skin’s natural renewal cycle. If you are working on specific texture or pigmentation concerns, your esthetician may recommend every two weeks for a period.

The vellus hair grows back at the same rate and texture as before. Dermaplaning does not change the follicle. This is well established in dermatology.

I had the absolute best experience at Krido Wellness!! I went in for a dermaplane and from the moment I walked in, I was welcomed with open arms. The spa itself is very clean, professional, and has a calming atmosphere so you can truly relax. My aesthetician Amber was incredible!! She is so knowledgable and friendly and was so thorough with my treatment. I literally couldn’t believe my skin afterward - had to do a double take in the mirror lol it was GLOWING, rejuvenated and felt amazing.

Who Dermaplaning Is For

Dermaplaning works for most skin types. It is ideal if you want to remove peach fuzz, smooth texture, brighten your complexion, or help your makeup sit better. It is gentle and does not use heat or chemicals.

If you have active breakouts, open wounds, or certain skin conditions, your esthetician will let you know at the consultation whether dermaplaning is right for you at this time.

How KRIDO Approaches Facials

KRIDO facials are built on Circadia professional skincare and finished with red light therapy and lymphatic drainage massage. Circadia formulas are designed to work with the skin’s natural 24-hour rhythm, supporting barrier function during the day and cellular repair at night. This approach is designed to support skin health over time, not just surface glow.

Each of our estheticians has 30 years of esthetics experience. You work with the same person who did your consultation, so the plan you leave with is one they will carry out.

Frequently asked questions

Will the hair on my upper lip grow back thicker after dermaplaning?

No. Dermaplaning removes hair at the surface and does not change the follicle. The hair grows back at the same rate, texture and color. This is well established in dermatology and the same principle as shaving.

Does dermaplaning hurt?

No. Dermaplaning is gentle and comfortable. You may feel a light scraping sensation as the blade moves across your skin, but it is not painful. Most clients find it relaxing.

Can I wear makeup after a dermaplaning facial?

Yes, but your esthetician may recommend waiting a few hours to let your skin settle. Many clients notice their makeup goes on smoother and more evenly after dermaplaning because the surface is so smooth.

How long does a dermaplaning facial take?

Your appointment takes about 90 minutes and includes the dermaplaning step, the rest of your facial, red light therapy, and lymphatic drainage massage.
