Does Body Sculpting Work? What the Research and Real Results Show

Body sculpting can reduce stubborn fat and tighten skin, but results depend on the technology, how many sessions you do, and what you bring to the table.

Does Body Sculpting Work?

Yes, certain body sculpting technologies can reduce stubborn fat and tighten skin in treated areas. Results depend on the method, how many sessions you complete, and your individual response.

Non-invasive body sculpting is not weight loss. It aims to refine shape, reduce inches in specific areas, and improve skin firmness where diet and exercise leave stubborn pockets. Some technologies have stronger research support than others.

What the Research Says About Body Sculpting

Cryolipolysis (the technology behind CoolSculpting) is FDA-cleared and backed by systematic reviews showing measurable fat layer reduction in treated areas. Studies demonstrate it works through sustained controlled cooling that triggers fat cell changes over weeks.

Other technologies, including radiofrequency, ultrasound and laser-based devices, have varying levels of published evidence. Some show modest fat reduction in clinical trials. Others rely mostly on manufacturer studies or before-and-after photos.

CryoSkin, the device KRIDO uses, is a different approach. It applies alternating warmth and cold in short phases with no suction. The only published study was small, manufacturer-sponsored, and showed an average 19 percent reduction in abdominal fat thickness measured by ultrasound after a full course of treatment. Evidence for this specific device is limited, and results vary between individuals.

What KRIDO Clients See: Tracked in Inches, Not Impressions

KRIDO tracks progress with measurements at every Cryo Body Sculpting session. On average, clients notice 0.5 to 1 inch of reduction in the first session. Results build over a course of 5 to 10 sessions.

This is body sculpting, not weight loss. Many clients feel leaner and more defined even when their weight stays the same. The goal is shape, firmness and contour in areas like the abdomen, arms, flanks, thighs and underarms.

Each session begins with a brief warming phase to increase blood flow, followed by rapid cooling. Many clients notice a change in inches and firmer-looking skin over a course of sessions. After the cold treatment comes red light therapy, which research suggests may support skin quality, and manual lymphatic drainage, which can temporarily reduce puffiness and fluid.

After debating for a few years to book a treatment like abdominal cryotherapy, I am so unbelievably happy that I chose KRIDO and Amber! She is so informational, trustworthy and talented. My results are everything I hoped for & I will absolutely be back for more. Rebecca Duncan, Google review

The three-stage protocol (cryo, red light and lymphatic drainage) takes about an hour. There is no downtime. You may look flushed right after, but you return to your day immediately.

How Body Sculpting Compares to Other Options

Surgical liposuction removes fat permanently from treated areas. It requires anesthesia, incisions, downtime and recovery. Weight gain after surgery can still change your shape.

Weight loss injections (GLP-1 medications) work systemically. You lose weight across your entire body. You cannot control where fat comes off, and rapid loss can leave skin looking looser.

Non-invasive body sculpting works locally. You choose the area. It aims to refine shape and firm skin without surgery, needles or significant downtime. Results are gradual and build over multiple sessions.

Exercise strengthens and tones the muscle underneath, which is essential. But research mostly shows that exercise cannot burn fat from one chosen spot. Fat loss happens across the whole body. Body sculpting addresses the layer of pinchable fat that does not respond well to training alone.

What a Body Sculpting Visit at KRIDO Looks Like

You start with a consultation. The team measures the area, reviews your goals and your health history, and builds a plan. The consultation is included; you pay for the session.

During the treatment, controlled cooling is applied to the skin for the chosen area. You feel alternating warmth and cold. Most clients find it comfortable and relaxing. After the cold phase, you receive red light therapy and lymphatic drainage massage.

Progress is tracked in inches at every visit, so changes are recorded rather than guessed at. Most plans run 5 to 10 sessions.

KRIDO serves St. Petersburg, Gulfport, South Pasadena, Pinellas Park, St Pete Beach, Treasure Island, Seminole and Largo. The studio is downtown at IMAGE Studios, 11 7th St N, Suite 220. Free parking is available right in front.

Does Body Sculpting Work for Everyone?

Results vary. Body sculpting works best for people who are already near their goal weight and want to refine specific areas. It is not a substitute for healthy eating or movement, and it is not designed for significant weight loss.

Certain conditions may make body sculpting unsuitable, including pregnancy, breastfeeding, cold sensitivity disorders like Raynaud’s, cardiovascular conditions, uncontrolled diabetes, and active skin infections in the treatment area. The team reviews your health history at the consultation.

For best results, KRIDO recommends avoiding sugars and highly processed fats for at least 2 hours before your session, and avoiding sugars and refined carbohydrates for 2 hours after. Light movement like walking after your session is also encouraged. These are studio guidelines based on what the team has observed with clients.

Frequently asked questions

Does body sculpting work for belly fat?

Body sculpting is designed to reduce stubborn fat in the abdomen, alongside a healthy lifestyle. KRIDO clients average 0.5 to 1 inch of reduction in the first session, with results building over 5 to 10 sessions. It refines shape and tightens skin, but it is not a weight loss treatment.

How long do body sculpting results last?

How long results last varies, and there is little research on how long CryoSkin results last. Keeping a stable weight helps, since weight gain can still change your shape. Many clients return for maintenance sessions to keep their results.

Is body sculpting better than liposuction?

Body sculpting is non-invasive with no downtime, while liposuction is surgery that removes fat permanently but requires recovery. Body sculpting suits people who want gradual refinement without incisions or anesthesia. Liposuction suits people who want immediate, dramatic fat removal and can manage the recovery time.

How many body sculpting sessions do I need to see results?

Many clients notice a visible change after the first session. For more noticeable, balanced results, KRIDO typically recommends 5 to 10 sessions. Your plan will be personalized at the consultation based on your goals and the area treated.

Does body sculpting hurt?

No. You feel alternating warmth and cold during the treatment. Most clients find it comfortable and relaxing. The cooling sensation may last a few hours after the session, though for some it may last up to a day or two. It does not interfere with daily activities.
