Is Microneedling Good for Rosacea?
Microneedling can help some people with rosacea, but it carries real risks and is not right for everyone.
Is Microneedling Safe for Rosacea?
Microneedling can help some people with rosacea, but it carries real risks and is not right for everyone. Whether it works for you depends on your specific rosacea type, how reactive your skin is, and what you are trying to treat.
Rosacea is not one condition. It shows up as flushing, visible blood vessels, acne-like bumps, thickened skin or a combination. Microneedling stimulates collagen through controlled micro-injury, and for some people with stable skin it may improve texture or scars. For others, especially those with active inflammation or highly reactive skin, the needle trauma can trigger a long flare.
There is no large body of research on microneedling specifically for rosacea. Most studies focus on acne scars, fine lines and texture. What we do know: microneedling works by creating tiny wounds in the skin to stimulate healing and collagen production. If your skin is already inflamed, adding more trauma can make redness, sensitivity and irritation worse.
When Microneedling May Help Rosacea Skin
Microneedling may be appropriate if your rosacea is well controlled, you have texture concerns like enlarged pores or rough patches, or you have scars from past acne-like breakouts. Some dermatologists use gentle microneedling with shorter needle depths for stable rosacea skin, paired with calming serums and careful aftercare.
Results take time. Microneedling typically requires several sessions spaced weeks apart. Your skin may look red and feel sensitive for a few days after each treatment. If you have rosacea, that recovery window can be longer and the flare risk is higher.

When to Avoid Microneedling
You should avoid microneedling if your rosacea is currently active and inflamed, if you flush easily or have a history of severe flares, or if you have visible blood vessels or pustules. Microneedling can make these worse.
Pregnancy, active skin infections, open wounds, certain medications and other health conditions may also make microneedling unsafe. Talk to a medical provider who understands your rosacea before booking any needling treatment.
Other Options for Rosacea
Rosacea responds to gentle, consistent care. Options include:
- Medical treatment: topical prescriptions (such as metronidazole, azelaic acid or ivermectin cream), oral medications (such as doxycycline), or laser therapy for visible blood vessels. Talk to a dermatologist.
- Facials: calming, hydrating treatments with no harsh exfoliation. At KRIDO Wellness, the Rosacea & Acne Facial is designed to rebalance the skin’s microbiota, reduce inflammation and support the barrier with soothing, antibacterial ingredients.
- Gentle exfoliation: dermaplaning removes dead skin and peach fuzz without the trauma of needles.
- Red light therapy: research suggests red light may support collagen and calm inflammation. At KRIDO Wellness, red light is included with every facial.
- Daily skincare: gentle cleansers, mineral SPF, barrier-supporting moisturizers. Avoid fragrance, alcohol and harsh actives.
No treatment cures rosacea. The goal is to calm inflammation, support the skin barrier and reduce flare triggers.
How KRIDO Wellness Approaches Rosacea-Prone Skin
KRIDO Wellness offers facials designed for sensitive, reactive and inflamed skin. The Rosacea & Acne Facial uses Circadia professional skincare designed to remove keratin buildup, reduce bacteria and rebalance the skin’s microbiota. A Pre & Post Biotic Nourishing Mask hydrates, calms and nourishes, leaving the skin balanced and restored.
Every facial at KRIDO Wellness includes red light therapy and lymphatic drainage massage. Research suggests red light may support collagen, and lymphatic drainage can temporarily reduce puffiness.
Microneedling is also available at KRIDO Wellness for clients with stable skin who want to target fine lines, acne scars, enlarged pores or uneven texture. At your consultation, your esthetician will assess your skin, review your health history and help you decide if microneedling is safe and appropriate for you.
Your visit starts with a skin consultation. Your esthetician looks at your skin, your concerns and your goals, then recommends the treatment that fits. Every visit starts with a consultation where we look at your goals and build your plan. You pay for the facial or treatment you choose.

What to Expect at Your Visit
Your first visit starts with a few minutes to complete an intake form. Your esthetician will review your health history, current skincare routine and what you want to address. They will assess your skin and recommend the safest, most effective treatment.
If you choose the Rosacea & Acne Facial, your esthetician will cleanse, exfoliate and apply the calming mask. Red light therapy and lymphatic drainage follow. The visit is designed to be relaxing and restorative. There is no downtime.
If microneedling is appropriate for your skin, your esthetician will explain what to expect during the treatment, how your skin may look afterward, and what aftercare steps to follow. Microneedling sessions are spaced weeks apart, and results build over time.
KRIDO Wellness is located at IMAGE Studios in downtown St. Petersburg, at 11 7th St N, Suite 220. Free parking is available right in front on 7th Street North. Hours are Monday to Saturday, 9 AM to 6 PM, by appointment.
I had the absolute best experience at Krido Wellness!! I went in for a dermaplane and from the moment I walked in, I was welcomed with open arms. I sat down with the owner, Kristina and she took the time to discuss my current skincare routine, what I’m struggling with and my goals. You could tell she really has such a passion for what she does and after learning more about her story, it was clear that her mission is to help people look and feel their best. The spa itself is very clean, professional, and has a calming atmosphere so you can truly relax. My aesthetician Amber was incredible!! She is so knowledgable and friendly and was so thorough with my treatment.

Frequently asked questions
Can microneedling make rosacea worse?
Yes. Microneedling creates controlled micro-injury to stimulate collagen. If your rosacea is active or your skin is highly reactive, the trauma can trigger a flare. Talk to a medical provider who understands your rosacea before trying microneedling.
What type of facial is best for rosacea?
Calming, hydrating facials with gentle exfoliation and barrier-supporting ingredients work best. At KRIDO Wellness, the Rosacea & Acne Facial is designed to rebalance the skin’s microbiota, calm inflammation and nourish the barrier. Red light therapy and lymphatic drainage are included.
How many microneedling sessions are needed for rosacea skin?
Microneedling typically requires several sessions spaced weeks apart. Results build over time. For rosacea-prone skin, the treatment plan depends on your skin’s stability and response. Your esthetician will assess your skin and recommend a safe course at your consultation.
Is dermaplaning safe for rosacea?
Dermaplaning is gentler than microneedling and may be appropriate for stable rosacea skin. It removes dead skin cells and peach fuzz without creating deep injury. Your esthetician will assess your skin and recommend the safest option at your consultation.
