Nano Brows vs Powder Brows: Which Is Right for You?
Nano brows look like individual hairs. Powder brows look like soft brow powder. Your skin type and the look you want decide which suits you.
Nano vs Powder Brows: The Short Answer
Nano brows use a single fine needle to draw individual hair strokes, so they look like natural brow hairs. Powder brows use tiny dots of pigment to build a soft, shaded fill, like a light brow powder. Choose nano brows if you want the most natural, hair like look. Choose powder brows if you like a soft filled look or have oily skin, where fine strokes can blur over time.
Both are cosmetic tattoos placed in the upper skin, both heal over several weeks, and both start with a consultation where your artist maps the shape with you.
How Each Technique Works
Nano brows. A machine with a single, very fine needle places pigment in thin strokes that follow the direction your hairs grow. The result reads as hair, even up close. Read more in what are nano brows.
Powder brows. The same type of machine places small dots of pigment, built up lighter at the front of the brow and deeper toward the tail. The result is soft and shaded, a bit like wearing brow powder.
Combo brows mix the two: hair strokes at the front and shading through the body and tail.

Skin Type Matters
On oily skin, fine hair strokes can spread slightly and look less crisp as they heal. Shading tends to hold more evenly, which is why many artists suggest powder or combo brows for oily skin. Normal and dry skin usually holds fine strokes well. Your artist looks at your skin at the consultation and recommends what will heal best for you.
Which Look Suits Your Routine
Think about how you wear brow makeup today. If you lightly fill in gaps with a sharp pencil and like brows that look untouched, nano brows are closer to that look. If you use brow powder or pomade for a soft, defined finish, powder brows will feel familiar. Combo brows suit people who want hair strokes at the front for a natural look and a little more depth toward the tail.

Healing and Touch Ups
Both techniques look darker and bolder for the first week, flake, then go through a pale stage before settling at about four to six weeks. You can follow each stage in our guides to the nano brows healing process and the powder brows healing process.
At KRIDO most clients have one main session and a touch up five to six weeks later. Results typically last one to three years depending on skin type, lifestyle and aftercare.
