Lash Lift vs Lash Extensions: Which Suits You?

A lash lift curls your own lashes for up to six to eight weeks with no fills. Extensions add length and volume but need fills every few weeks.

Lash Lift vs Extensions: The Short Answer

A lash lift curls and lifts your own lashes from the base, usually paired with a tint, and lasts up to six to eight weeks with no upkeep. Lash extensions are single synthetic lashes glued to your natural ones. They add length and volume a lift cannot, but they need fills every two to three weeks and more careful daily care.

If you like a natural, wide awake look and a low maintenance routine, a lift usually fits better. If you want visibly longer or fuller lashes than you naturally have, extensions are the tool for that. KRIDO offers lash lifts with tint, not extensions.

How Each One Works

Lash lift. A lotion softens your natural lashes while they are shaped over a small silicone shield, then a setting step fixes the new curl. A tint is often added to darken the lashes. Nothing is added to your eye. Read the full process in lash lift steps.

Lash extensions. A lash artist glues individual synthetic lashes, or small fans of them, onto your natural lashes one by one. The look can range from natural to dramatic.

Who a Lash Lift Suits

  • You have reasonable natural length but lashes that grow straight or point down.
  • You want to stop curling and wearing mascara every day.
  • You prefer a natural look and a low maintenance routine.
  • You swim, sweat or rub your eyes, which is hard on extensions.

Very short or sparse lashes can still be lifted, but the effect is subtler. See lash lift on short lashes.

Who Extensions Suit

  • You want noticeably more length or volume than your natural lashes give.
  • You are happy to keep up with regular fills.
  • You are comfortable with the extra care: oil free makeup remover, gentle cleansing and no rubbing.

Is One Safer Than the Other?

Both are generally safe when done by a trained professional with clean tools. With a lift, the main thing is avoiding over processing, so lifts are spaced six to eight weeks apart. With extensions, poorly applied or heavy sets can strain natural lashes. Read is a lash lift safe for more.

Frequently asked questions

Which lasts longer, a lash lift or extensions?

A lash lift lasts up to six to eight weeks with no upkeep. Extensions shed with your natural lashes and usually need fills every two to three weeks.

Can you get a lash lift and extensions together?

Not at the same time. Extensions are applied to straight, natural lashes, so most artists recommend choosing one or the other.

Does KRIDO offer lash extensions?

No. KRIDO offers Lash Lift & Tint, which enhances your natural lashes without extensions.
